MELBOURNE – Rufus Thomas Bone, 85, of Sidney died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at his home. Born Aug. 29, 1917, in Stella, he was the son of Porter H. Bone and Sarah Matilda Farthing Bone.
He was a farmer and logger and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Protestant and a lifetime member of the Evening Shade Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8042.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Imogene Owens Bone; three nieces, Elree Haworth of Newport, Kan., Gleniece Snodgrass of Eudora, Kan., and Ardis Gay Conner of Lawrence, Kan.; and a nephew, Clee Harmon of Aurora, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, C.G. Bone; and two sisters, Ina Harmon and Edrie Greiner.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roller Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Melbourne with Alvin Wiles officiating. Burial will be in Big Spring Cemetery located on Hwy. 58 near Sidney.
Pallbearers will be Clee Harmon, Walter Haworth, James Snodgrass, Claude Owens, Jerry Owens and Darrell Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers are Coy Owens, Clyde Owens and David Owens.
