Graydon Earl Bone son of William Hollis Bone and Arminta Frances (McElmurry) Bone. Brada May (Ferguson) Bone daughter of Henry Melvin* Ferguson and Bertha Mae (Ellis) Ferguson. Graydon Bone was a member of the Order of the Masons.

Graydon Earl Bone son of the late Hollis and Arminta McElmurry Bone, was born August 25, 1908 in Bonetown, Izard County, Arkansas. He died August 11, 2000 in Salem. He was 91.

Mr. Bone was united in marriage to Brada May Ferguson March 17, 1929 in Melbourne. To this union four children were born.

After teaching school for many years, he was the postmaster of Oxford Post Office. He retired after thirty years of service. Mr. Bone remained active in the community through his entire life. Up until shortly before his death he worked the local elections. For much of his retirement he helped many of his neighbors complete their tax returns. He was one of the oldest members of the Oxford Baptist Church. He was a Shriner and Past Master of the Hays Lodge #289 in Union.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Thompson of Fairfield Bay and Donna Weathers of Berryville; two sons, Jack Bone of Austin, Texas and Jerry Bone of Oxford; one sister Eula Williams of Wenatchee, Washington; twelve grandchildren, Lance Thompson, Sandy Needham. Lennon Bone, Chance Bone, Colton Bone, Dennis Bone, Danny Bone, Donnie Bone, Kristy Weathers, Toni Weathers and Cindy Weathers; eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers Ewell and Eldon Bone; one sister, Cuba Daughty; two grandchildren, Tammy Love and Ronnie Weathers.

Funeral services were held August 14, 2000, at Oxford Baptist Church with Author Barber officiating. Pallbearers were James Ferguson, Danny Bone, Vic Hall, Ron Helm, Lance Thompson and Mark Herrington.

Interment was at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddies’ Family Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Brada May Ferguson Bone, daughter of the late Henry Muncy and Bertha May Ellis Ferguson was born October 3, 1908 in Oxford, Izard County, Arkansas. She died November 23, 1997 in Salem. She was 89.

Mrs. Bone was united in marriage to Gradon Bone March 17, 1929. To this union four children were born. She was a school teacher in Sage, a postal clerk at the Oxford Post Office and a member of the Oxford Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Sue Thompson of Fairfield Bay and Donna Weathers of Berryville; two sons, Jerry Bone of Oxford and Jack Bone of Austin, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

Pallbearers will be Lance Thompson, James Ferguson, Vic Hall, Ron Helm, Lennon Bone and John Greer.

Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery under the direction of the Eddie Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
