Aileen (Thompkins) Cole the wife of Wayne Cole. Aileen (Thompkins) Cole the daughter of Edgar Thompkins and Suda Hatten Thompkins.


Aileen Thompkins Cole, 72, daughter of the late Edgar and Suda Hatten Thompkins, was born June 3, 1930, in Lepanto, Ark. She died Aug. 21, 2002, in Osceola, Ark.

She was married to Wayne Cole on Feb. 7, 1864, in Lepanto, Ark.

She spent her life as a mother, and homemaker. She attended the Midway Baptist church and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Elrod of Keiser, Ark.; one step-daughter, JoAnn Tayler of Rivervale; four sisters, Violet Carlton of Melbourne, Zala Johnson of Evening Shade, Betty Burns of Russellville, and Patsy Dyer of Conway; two brothers, Oliver Thompkins of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Wilton Thompkins of Evening Shade, Ark.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Donald Ray Johnson of Harrisburg.

The funeral was Aug. 23 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Bobby Cannon officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dean Hutchins, Doug Arnold, Bill Bohannan, James McReynolds, Ron Eary, Jay Johnson.

Arrangements were under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
