PORTNELL, D. - D. Portnell of the Portnell Milling Co. of Fayetteville, died Monday at his home in that city at the age of 66 years. The body was brought to Rogers last evening and this morning was interred in the local cemetery beside the grave of his first wife who was killed a number of years ago by being thrown from a buggy at Fayetteville. Mr. Portnell was well known to many of our citizens, having owned and operated the mill at Silver Springs from 1889 until 1895. He was at that time a member of the Congregational church of this city. After leaving Silver Springs he went to Fayetteville where he has since engaged in the milling business with his sons. He remarried several years ago and is survived by his wife and two small children.

PORTNELL, Mrs. Daniel - The remains of Mrs. Daniel Portnell of Fayetteville were brought to Rogers on Tuesday evening and interred in the city cemetery. The funeral party came in on the local passenger. There were no services here. Mrs. Portnell was wife of Daniel Portnell, proprietor of the Fayetteville Roller Mills and was a well known and highly respected citizen of that place. Monday evening she was out driving with her husband when the latter left the carriage and entered a store near by. From some unknown cause, the horse became frightened and dashed off down the street. Mrs. Portnell attempted to jump from the buggy but her clothing caught and the buggy was overturned on her. She was terribly injured about the head and died within a few minutes after help had reached her. Funeral services were held at Fayetteville on Tuesday evening and were conducted by Rev. Davies of the Presbyterian church, Rev. Ragland of the Christian church and Rev. Hainsworth of the M.E. church. Mr. and Mrs. Portnell were well known by many of our older citizens, for Mr. Portnell for several years owned and operated the Silver Springs mills, southeast of Rogers. Mrs. Portnell was a member of the Congregational church here and a Sunday school teacher. Everyone was greatly shocked to learn of her untimely death.
