Billie R. Hightower, 81, of Russellville, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 8, 1930, at Clarksville, to Willie Dee and Beulah Pearl Gardner Williams.
She was a graduate of the Hartman High School, was a former employee of Morton Frozen Foods in Russellville (now Con-Agra), and had volunteered at Saint Mary's Hospital for many years. She was a member of First Assembly of God where she was a member of the AY (Always Young) Group. She had an open heart and open door to any animal in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Matthew Hightower.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ricky and Joyce Hightower of Jacksonville, Ronnie Hightower of Ohio, and Randy and Amy Hightower of Fayetteville; a sister, Virginia Hayhurst of Russellville; six grandchildren, Jess, Willie, Casey, Nathan, Ashley and Kelli Hightower; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Jordan and Jacob Hightower; three nephews, Keith, Steven and Dewayne Plummer; and a niece, Billie Ruth Williams.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, at the First Assembly of God, officiated by the Rev. Mike Norberg and the Rev. Ronnie Morris.
Burial will be in West Mount Zion Cemetery near Hartman, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Family members will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. W. Robert Thurlby and Larry Hudnall.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
