Mrs. Sarah Ballard passed away at her home near Maysville Monday morning, Feb. 5, 1917. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.D. Parrish at the Presbyterian church and interment took place at Tinnin cemetery. Sarah Arthur was born in Georgia June 16, 1830, emigrating to the Indian Territory in the early 30's where she met and was married to John Ballard. To this union were born eight children, five of whom are left to mourn her loss: George and Henry Ballard and Mrs. Mack Roseborough of Afton, Okla.; Mrs. S.O. James of Maysville and Freeman Ballard of Gravette, Ark.; also a niece, Miss Nan Nidiffer, who has made her home with Mrs. Ballard from early childhood. Grandma Ballard lived a devoted Christian life and was loved and esteemed by all who knew her and leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss.
