DOWNUM, Ada May REYNOLDS - Mrs. W.A. Downum, wife of the Rev. W.A. Downum, pastor of the Methodist church of Elm Springs, died Tuesday morning at her home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Springtown Wednesday, conducted by Rev. C.H. Sherman, pastor Central Methodist church at Springdale, with burial in the Springtown cemetery. Mrs. Downum was Ada May Reynolds and was born at Springtown May 17, 1891. On April 27, 1913 she was united in marriage to Rev. W.A. Downum, to whom was born a daughter, Leora May Joy, who lived only 3 months. Following her baby's death Mrs. Downum's health begun to fail. She was converted at the age of 10 or 12 years and became a member of the Baptist church, later joining the Methodist church of which her husband was a minister. She is survived by her husband, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. S.D. Reynolds; two brothers, William and James Reynolds; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Ogdon, Mrs. Estelle Marrs and Mrs. Bertha Coffelt. Mrs. Downum has been ill for the past 12 years but during all this long time of suffering she was always cheerful and jolly. The large concourse of friends that attended the funeral services showed how greatly she was loved and respected by the people of Northwest Arkansas. Half the people who came to the services were unable to get into the church on account of the large number present. The sorrowing husband and family have the sympathy of the entire community.
