Mary Kathryn "Kay" Stapleton

Mary Kathryn "Kay" Stapleton of Springdale died Feb. 28, 2006, at Fayetteville. Kathryn was a disciple of Christ and we know the Lord will be taking good care of her in heaven.

She was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Rocky Comfort, Mo., the daughter of Hilton and Delia Carroll. She attended school in Rocky Comfort until her family moved to Madison County.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Welch Carroll and Charles Carroll, both of St. Paul, and one sister, Cletus Warford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lois Stapleton. Kay and Lois had made their home in Springdale where they lived for many years. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and wonderful friend to many. She had retired from JCPenney shoe department at the Northwest Arkansas Mall, where she had worked for 13 years. She was an active member of Pleasant Street Church of Christ in Springdale until she became ill in 2001 and had to go into a nursing home. Love and appreciation to her lifelong friends at the Pleasant Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son, Bob Baker of Madison County and his wife Jeannie and daughter Annis Baggett of Lowell, and her husband Bill and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family wants to thank the staff at Meadowview Healthcare in Huntsville for making her later years in life easier.
