Wallace Earl Deffenbaugh, 82, of Natural Dam died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, in his home. He was a member of Independence Free Will Baptist Church and the Uniontown Masonic Lodge No. 395. He had 30 years of service with Crawford County Democrat Committee. He was a Seabee Navy veteran of World War II and a lifelong resident of Crawford County. He was also a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Stella Mae Deffenbaugh. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Hall Cemetery near Natural Dam. He is survived by his wife, Zola Mae of the home; a daughter, Earlene Boone of Natural Dam; two sisters, Helen Thiel of Nicolaus, Calif., and Maude Massey of Coweta, Okla.; two brothers, Clarence Deffenbaugh of Kibler and Ed Deffenbaugh of Poteau; two granddaughters, Audra Peters of Mountainburg and Kim Mathews of Natural Dam; and three great-granddaughters, Auburn, Addison and Britton Peters, all of Mountainburg. Pallbearers will be Tim and Jim Brown, Scott Knight, Steve Massey, Eddie Deffenbaugh, J.C. Bailey, Wallace Adams and Mike Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Thell Ellison, Jay Freeman, Denver Trentham, Eura Rose, John Wiley, Ray Tudor, Jay Trentham and Jamie Marion. SOURCE: "Times Record Obituary Archive."
