SPRINGDALE — Pauline Smith Danner, 96, born Sept. 29, 1912, at the Round Mountain community (east of Fayetteville) to Ackland E. and Minnie Mae Miller Smith, died March 31, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice.
She and her husband farmed in Fayetteville, selling fruits and vegetables and raising poultry. Before she retired in 1977, she managed the fabric department at J.C. Penney Co. on the square in Fayetteville for 17 years. As a gifted musician, she served Northeast Baptist Church as organist for many years. She took great pleasure in quilting and crocheting, making gifts for family and friends. She loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens. Her greatest joy was being with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Hubert E. Danner), her sister (Eva Mae Smith Kozenek), her brothers (Lynn C. Smith and William Clyde Smith), and her son (the Rev. W.E. "Bill" Danner).
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bob Bowman of Springdale; her daughter-in-law, Betty Danner of Springdale; her grandchildren, Karen (David) Lee of Fayetteville, Brenda Murphy of Springdale, Tim (Kelly) Danner of Tulsa, Cheryl (Larry) Thompson of Rogers and Steve (Hong) Danner of Minnesota; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews; a cousin, Gene (Jo) Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, April 2, at Moore's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. The family will be present.
Her life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Northeast Baptist Church in Fayetteville, 2578 N. Oakland Zion Road. The Revs. Lynville Eaton and Phil Misenheimer will officiate.
Following the celebration, she will be buried at Round Mountain Cemetery.
