Bessie M. (Lackey) Kennedy left this world for a better place on April 30th, 2010. She was born in Tumbling Shoals on October 3rd, 1931 to Clarence H. and Duda Jo (Higgs) Lackey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Willis Kennedy, her parents and her brother Leon Lackey and son-in-law Loyd Glenn Cates.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Cates of Tumbling Shoals, two sons Larry Kennedy (Debbie) of Concord, Roger Kennedy (Lori) of Tumbling Shoals. Three grandsons Scott Cates, Grant Kennedy (Amanda) and Jake Kennedy. Also, two great grandchildren Emma and Cooper Kennedy. Two sisters Dessie Blackshear and Jessie Reeves both of Tumbing Shoals, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bessie and her husband made their home in Tumbling Shoals. She was privileged to be a mother, homemaker and wife of a pipeliner, traveling with her husband on jobs all over the U.S. making many lifelong friends along the way.

She was a charter member of the Chastain Chapel General Baptist Church actively serving as Sunday school secretary and other activities until her death. She was member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Cleburne County Historical Society and local hospital auxiliary.

Visitation will be held at Olmstead Funeral Home Monday, May 3rd 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Services will be Tuesday, May 4th 11:00 A.M. at Chastain Chapel General Baptist Church in Tumbling Shoals with burial at Chastain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Reeves, Robert Reeves, Willie Stone, Gary Lacy, Ricky Logan, and Roger Logan. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Lacy, O.B. Moss, Marty Moss and Travis Moss with services officiated by Reverend Terry Mote and Reverend Eric Decker.
