Mrs. Betty LaFran Barnett Bolin, 50, of Crossett died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born in Crossett on July 18, 1948, to Willie Mac and Martiel Carter Barnett, Mrs. Bolin was a lifetime member of the Arkansas PTA and a member of the Ashley County Democratic Party, Arkansas Democratic Party, North Crossett Freewill Baptist Church and its ladies auxiliary and the Crossett Area Chamber of Commerce. She served as a substitute for the Crossett School District, was a former employee of the First National Bank of Crossett, a Mary Kay independent beauty consultant, and a real estate agent for Harold Jarvis Insurance Agency. She owned and operated Fashions West for eight years, worked for the Census Bureau, and was an interior designer with a firm in Mobile, AL, and a homemaker. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross, PTA, and a tour guide in Mobile. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William H. Carter and Elzie and Ollie Barnett. Survivors include her husband, Johnny M. Bolin of Crossett; a son, Stephen Bolin of Crossett; a daughter, Lisa Bolin McPherson of Texarkana; a grandson, John Marshall McPherson of Texarkana; her parents, Willie Mac and Martiel Barnett of Crossett; her grandmother, Zelma Carter Young of Crossett; two brothers, Jerry Mac Barnett of Crossett and William Bruce Barnett of Dallas, TX; and a sister, Kathy Barnett Baldwin of Crossett. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, in the North Crossett First Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. John Reed and Roy Craig officiating. Pallbearers were Michael Young, Don Henson, Wilburn Dickey, Tom Brim, Danny Sanders and John Bearden. Honorary pallbearers were Russ Meeks, Rickey Rice, Mike Ray, Robert Gill, J. B. Boseman, Herman Johnson, Tom Hunter, Wayne Moffatt and Don Toon. Burial followed services at the Carter Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church of North Crossett, P. O. Box F, Crossett, AR 71635; the Crossett Riding Club Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 1720, Crossett, AR 71635; the Crossett Community Scholarship Association and Crossett Area Chamber Association, 101 West First Avenue, Crossett, AR 71635; or to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Suite 146, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
