WARDLAW, David Dickie - The report reached Maysville this morning that D.D. Wardlaw, who lived east of Maysville, died last night, January 15th. Mr. Wardlaw had not been feeling well for a few days but he was feeling much better yesterday and ate a hearty supper. About two o'clock a.m. some of the home folks went to his room to see if he was resting and found him dead. Mr. Wardlaw had been living on the farm for several years and everyone knew him and the community extends sympathy to the bereaved family. Besides his widow he is survived by four children, two sons and two daughters.

A gloom of sorrow came over the home of Mr. David Dickie Wardlaw and spread over the entire community when they learned of his sudden death on Tuesday morning, January 15th, 1924, the result of heart failure. Mr. Wardlaw was born near Brightwater, Ark. on May 28th, 1861, spending the earlier part of his life there and on Pea Ridge engaged in farming. He was married in 1887 to Frances T. Webb of Pea Ridge, Ark. To this union was born six children, two dying in infancy. In 1906 he moved near Maysville to the farm that he occupied at the time of his death. He leaves his wife; Robert and Everett Wardlaw of Gravette; Mrs. Connely Primrose of Maysville; Mrs. Barney Thomason of Westville, Okla. and a host of friends to mourn his loss. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church 28 years and lived a Christian life. He was a devoted husband and a kind and loving father. He was always striving to make the pathway of life smoother for those who should follow him. No task was ever too large, no days were ever too long; he kept faithfully moving toward the goal, and by his earnest and diligent work he accumulated wealth. Mr. Wardlaw's life was an open book to all who knew him. During the many years that I have known him as a neighbor I never knew him to tell an untruth; I never knew him to do a dishonorable act and he has always drawn a line on everything that was impure and unclean. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church in Maysville by Rev. Sade of Southwest City, Mo. and the body interred in the Tinnin cemetery. A Friend.
