Vaughtleen Kennedy, age 88, of Quitman, died July 20, 2009, at her home. Vaughtleen was born July 3, 1921, in Damascus. She was a member of Palestine Baptist Church in Pearson.

Vaughtleen was preceded in death by her husband, Fred A. Kennedy; her parents, Olen and Betty Parish, son, Eddie Nelson, and brother, Eudean Parish.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Sue Payton and husband, Virgil, of Jacksonville and Patricia Hartwick and husband, Bogan, of Guy; one brother, Cubern Parish and wife, Dorothy, of Wichita, Kan.; sister-in-law, Betty Parish of Searcy; six grandchildren, Tina Hendrix, Andy Hartwick, Lisa Gilpin, Tonya Hartwick, A. J. Nelson, and Lacey Nelson; and five great-grandchildren, Korey Hendrix, Brooklyn Hartwick, Courtney Hartwick, Gunner Williams, and Kayla Gilpin; and many friends and loved ones.

Funeral service was held July 23 in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Gary Burdin officiating. Interment followed at the Pearson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bart Bradford, B. F. Glover, Jeff Glover, Gary Dollar, Gerald Dollar, and Donnie Ghent. Honorary pallbearer was Bob Montgomery. The family extends a very special thanks to the Cleburne County Hospice.
