John Buster Howsen

John Buster Howsen, age 94, of Warren, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Beverly Health Center.

He was born June 29, 1908, in the Pleasant Valley Community of Bradley County, a son of the late John “Short” Vontee Howsen and Winnie Lou Norman Howsen. He was a retired glue room foreman for the Potlatch Corporation and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

He was the widower of Bertha Mae Hines Howsen who died February 11, 2002. They were married December 24, 1928, in Hermitage.

Survivors include two sons, J. W. “Tootie” Howsen and Larry Edward Howsen, both of Warren; one daughter, Dorothy Sue Jenkins of Fort Smith; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorris Clark.

Graveside services were Saturday, March 29, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Tonya Jones Johnson was soloist.

Pallbearers were Victor Myers, John Parrott, Jackie Jenkins, Kenneth Howsen, Steve Howsen, Steven Forrest and Bob Tate.

Arrangements were by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.
