December 5, 1880 - March 19, 1964
John William Hecker, aged 83, of 2649 Smackover ROad, well known Ouachita county man and retired farmer and contractor died at his home at 12:20 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Hecker was born at Cambria, Wisconsin, and moved to Ouachita County, about 60 years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer during his early years here. Later he entered the contracting business, and built a number of roads and bridges in this section of the state. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Francis Austin Hecker; two sons, Raymond Hecker, and John F. Hecker both of Camden; two sisters Mrs. Anna Curtis of Portage, Wis., and Mrs. Carrie Schmidt of Beaver Dam, Wis., and by six grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Friday (today) at the First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dwight West. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery by Proctor Funeral Home. Casket bearers were, Milas Reynolds, R. N. Reynolds, Adolph Wilkerson, Colin Threatgill, H. T. Patton, and Bruce Greer. (Camden News - March 20, 1964)
