Benton County Democrat

BENNETT, Mattie E. BURGIN and babe - Mattie E. Burgin Bennett was born on Spavinaw, Benton county, Ark. Sept. 17, 1874 and died July 13, 1909, age 34 years, 9 months and 26 days. She was married to D.H. Bennett Nov. 1, 1899. To them were born four children, one of whom is dead. She was converted and joined the Methodist church in 1905 under the ministry of Rev. Y.A. Gilmore. She lived a true christian life and was not afraid to die. She was a victim of that dreaded disease consumption. She lingered long in a state of ill health but through it all was a patient sufferer. Only a few days before her death her infant babe was carried to the grave. She followed it soon to the place where there is no more pain. The funeral was conducted in connection with that of her father-in-law {who was buried at the same time}, by the writer assisted by Bro. Bearden, and we laid her body to rest in the cemetery near Mr. Coffelt's home. May God bless the husband and children, also the parents and friends who mourn for her. H.A. Armstrong.
