OVERVIEW: Selma Cemetery has many old red oaks that shade the historic monuments that are lined within this old country cemetery. John Haisty donated the land for the expansion of this cemetery in the 1870's stipulating that he and his family be buried under the red oak tree. His wishes was indeed honored as his family are interred here under the old oak tree as requested. Selma Cemetery has several pioneer families such as the Applebury, Asbill, Barrett, Bilbrey, Bradley, Clayton, Defir, Dishongh, Farrell, Farver, Grisham, Haisty, Harper, Harrell, Harvey, Lack, McNeely, Newton, Pickens, Posey, Prewitt, Sawyer, Smith, Spivey, Tillar, Tindall, Waller, and Williams families plus many others interred within this sacred land. ~
