George A. Guthrie, 78-year-old resident of Gentry, died at his home in Gentry on June 6 after an extended illness.

Born April 4, 1899 in Indian Territory, (Okla.) he was a retired contractor. He had lived in Gentry since 1953 moving here from Texas. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his widow, A.Z. (Crawford) Guthrie of the home; one son, N.M. Guthrie of Decatur; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Smith of Gentry, Mrs. Nellie Drennan of Decatur, Mrs. Anna June Hancock of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Audrey Brown and Mrs. Sharon Yates, both of Dalhart, Texas; one brother, Jack Guthrie of Galt, Calif.; and one sister, Mamie Pallesen of Lodi, Calif.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, in the Wasson Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be in the Gentry Cemetery under the direction of the Wasson Funeral Home.
