HARDY, Florence PACE - Mrs. Florence P. Hardy, a well-known resident of Bentonville, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Derreberry, in Eureka Springs on Saturday, January 26th, 1924, aged 70 years. The remains were brought to Bentonville for burial and services were held at the cemetery on Sunday. She is survived by one son, Claude Hardy, and three daughters, Mrs. Clara Whayne and Mrs. Wm. Jackson of Bentonville and Mrs. Josephine Derreberry of Eureka Springs. Mrs. Hardy was one of Benton county's pioneer daughters and was born in 1854 northeast of Bentonville on what is now known as the old Kindley place. Later her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Pace, moved to Maysville where they lived until the close of the Civil War when they returned to Bentonville where she later married John Hardy. About 15 years ago they moved to Oklahoma and at the death of Mr. Hardy four years later she returned to Bentonville to make her home. For the past four years she has been spending the summers in Bentonville and the winters in Eureka Springs. Mrs. Hardy was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the old Cumberland Presbyterian Church and bore her affliction with true Christian fortitude.
