Diven Hendrix

JOHNSON — Raymond Diven Hendrix, 77, of Johnson died Feb. 8, 1996, at Springdale Nursing Center. He was born May 19, 1918, in the Steele community to George A. and Eula Diven Hendrix. He was an independent truck driver for H.C. Schmieding Produce and McClinton/Anchor in the late 1950s and was a cattle-, chicken- and strawberry-grower. He attended Gospel of Peace Tabernacle. He had been secretary-treasurer of Johnson Volunteer Fire Department since 1990 and was a longtime member of the department. He was preceded in death by one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Clark Hendrix of the home, to whom he was married Aug. 4, 1939, at Elaine; one son, Jerry Hendrix of Johnson; two daughters, Patricia Zachary of Omaha (Boone County) and Martha Perkins of Springdale; four brothers, John Wilson Hendrix and Leonard Hendrix, both of Johnson, George A. Hendrix Jr. of Fayetteville and Herschel D. Hendrix of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Ida Lee Luper of Johnson, Mary C. Holcomb of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Dorothy J. Drew of Phoenix, Ariz., and Georgia M. Brown of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sisco Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Roy Murrell, the Rev. Phillip Zachary and Clifton Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Jason Hendrix, Eugene Montgomery, Michael Riddle, Basil Williams, Doug Zachary and John Zachary.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Johnson Volunteer Fire Department.
