PICKENS, Bernice MARSHALL - After nearly six weeks of pain and suffering Mrs. R.O. Pickens passed away early Monday morning. The news of her death, though expected at any moment, created a deep feeling of sadness throughout the city. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church South Tuesday afternoon and Rev. A.H. Dulaney paid a glowing tribute to her life and character. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and the floral offerings were many. She was 36 years of age. Bernice Marshall Pickens was endowed with many of Nature's best gifts and she made the most of them. To the bereaved husband, Dr. R.O. Pickens, and the three motherless children, the whole city extends its sympathy.
