G. Leonard Moates, 66, of Crossett died at his residence on Tuesday, August 6, 2002. Born January 14, 1936, in Clanton, AL, to George W. and Velma Thomas Moates, he was a U S Army veteran and a retired construction worker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Moates, his parents, and a brother, Grady Moates, all of Clanton, AL.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Moates of Crossett; two brothers, James and Monroe Moates; four sisters, Marie Shields and Sue Bryant, all of Clanton, Louise Harris of Louisville, KY and Nell Lockheart of Birmingham, AL; a special niece, Rhonda Kellum of Conway; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Anthony, Coleman Matthews, Jr., Steve Craig, Bobby Craig, Chris Kellum and Shawn Blake.
