Don L. "Sonny" Johnson, 73, of Hamburg, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. Mr. Johnson was a native of Crossett and a life long resident of the New Milo Community and Hamburg. He was a carpenter; an avid coon hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Johnson Brothers Deer Camp.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rastus & Cora Watt Johnson; three brothers, Robert, Wilton & Raymond Johnson; three sisters, Georgie Carter, Robbie Lynda Johnson and Francis Johnson.
He is survived by six sons, Jerry "Cooter" Johnson; Allen Johnson and wife, Rhonda, all of Hamburg, Robert Johnson, Donald Wayne Johnson, Amon Johnson and wife, Sydney, and Hardy Johnson all of Hamburg; three daughters, Barbara Barnard and husband, Tom, of Mobile, Alabama, Dowery Barnett and Billie Jo "B.J." Johnson all of Hamburg; two brothers, Scott Johnson and Billy Johnson, both of Crossett; five sisters, Verdell Moore of Monroe, Louisiana; Jean Ballard, Tina Burt, Norma Hamm and Sara Francis "Sally" Tomblin all of Crossett; 11 grandchildren, Regan Williamson, Kara Cooper, Jeremiah Johnson, Seth Sweeney, Maddison McGinnis, Kim Tyler, Abby, Zane, Sara, Liza & Sonny Johnson and four great-grandchildren, Bailey Williamson, Breanna Cooper, Lexi Zeigler and Aubrey Tyler.
Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Arkadelphia Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Watt officiating. Pallbearers are his sons, Jerry "Cooter" Johnson, Allen Johnson, Robert Johnson, Donald Wayne Johnson, Amon Johnson and Hardy Johnson.
Visitation will be all day Saturday and until funeral time Sunday at Mr. Johnson's home.
