DEATH OF COUSINS OCCURRED HEAR ON SAME DAY
Maxwell:--Died, at her home in Bentonville, Arkansas, on Friday, January 8th, 1937, at 4:45 o'clock. a.m., Sallie Carnahan Maxwell, wife, of A.J. Maxwell.

Joint funeral services for both of the above deceased were held at the Callison-McKinney Funeral Chapel on Sunday, January 10th, 1937, at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon, the Rev. Glenn F. Sanford, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Edwin E. Mace, pastor of the Presbyterian Church.
Interment in both cases was made in the Bentonville cemetery immediately following the services.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Maxwell were Walter Haxton, Fred Douglas, Berry Smartt. Arlie Beck, Ernest Patton and Marion Galbreaith. For Mr. Carnahan they were D.W. Peel, Jr., W.T. Dudley, S.J. Farmer, J.T. McGill, John T. Jackson and John Applegate.
Edgar Carnahan was born at Bentonville, Arkansas on June 7th, 1870. His father was the Rev. Peter Carnahan and his mother was Jennie Buchanan Carnahan, both of whom were pioneer citizens of Northwest Arkansas.
Edgar Carnahan and Miss Margaret Jefferson were married at Bentonville on February 14th, 1900, and have since that time made their home here. He had followed the jewelry business and watch-making for 40 years and was widely known in this profession.
Mr. Carnahan received the supreme joy of his life in helping others who were in need.
His death came as a great surprise to his relatives and friends. While he had not been in good health for some time, he was uptown as usual during the morning and while thus engaged was suddenly stricken and taken to his home where he died within a few minutes.
He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. D.C. Lewis of Portland, Oregon; two living brothers, Wilford Carnahan of Bentonville and John H. Carnahan of Fort Smith, Ark.; one niece in Portland, Oregon, and one nephew in Oklahoma City.

Sallie Edna Carnahan, daughter of S.N. Carnahan and Emma Rollans Carnahan, was born near Cane Hill, Washington County, on April 20th, 1864. There she spent her childhood and grew to young womanhood, receiving her education at the old Cane Hill College at a time when that was one of the outstanding educational institutions of the State.
In the early eighties the family moved to Benton County and resided on a farm three miles east of Bentonville, where on October 6th, 1885, she and A.J.Maxwell were married, the Rev. Peter Carnahan, uncle of the bride and father of Edgar Carnahan performing the marriage ceremony. Since her marriage she had made her home here in Bentonville.
In early life she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was ever a faithful Christian.
She is survived by her husband, A.J. Maxwell; two sons, Theron S. Maxwell of Canyon, Texas, and Rollans B. Maxwell of Bentonville; two sisters, Mrs. Tennie Russell of Cane Hill and Mrs. Emma Haney of Bentonville, and one brother, Henry W. Carnahan of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, Jack Newton, Maurine and Sallie Irene Maxwell, children of Mr. and Mrs. Rollans B. Maxwell.
