Hattie Ellen Whitfield of Norfork, daughter of the late Enock and Birdie Tucker Adams, was born October 19, 1903, in Norfork. She died May 28, 2003, in Calico Rock. She was 99 years old.
Mrs. Whitfield was united in marriage to Edgar Allen Whitfield on October 21, 1921, at Bateville. During her working ears, she was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Some Hattie's hobbies included gardening, quilting, spending time with her family and her church. She was a member of the Galatia Christiam Fellowship.
She is survived by six daughters, Betty Scott of Laramie, Wyoming, Oneida Stevens of Norfork, Helen Hathaway of Marion, Indiana, Wilma Huff of Norfork, Bobbie Sanders of Calico Rock and Norma Speaks of Liberty, Missouri; three sons, Roe Whitfield of Norfork, Levi Whitfield of Saratoga, Wyoming, and Dean Whitfield of Brumley, Missouri; two sisters, Lillian Nemmo of Huntsville, Texas and Mildred Page of Mt. Home; two half sisters, Ernestine Clark of Mt. Home and Nettie Joe Whiteaker of Calico Rock; 27 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 29 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Jack Whitfield; two daughers, Pat Reeves and Joyce Carolyn Whitfield; one sister Goldie Cunningham; two brothers, wilson Adams and Gene Adams; and three grandchildren, Mark Reeves, Terry Lucy and Betty Gay Green.
Funeral services were June 1, 2003, at the Galatia Christian Fellowship with Ray Lamb and Tom Stover officiating. Pallbearers were Lawrence Cunningham, Todd Bradbury, Bill Adams, Doug Huskey, Lawrence Page and Bashane Bradbury. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Lester, Elzora Lucy, Murphy Davis, Charles Watson, George Huff and Ben Davis.
Interment was at Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family funeral Home.
