Harley Junior Barnes, 72, of Batesville died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born on February 28, 1932 in Hastings, Oklahoma and was the son of Harley Edward and Alpha (Jacobson) Barnes.

He was a retired carpenter & enjoyed building things with his hands and especially for his grandchildren. Harley also enjoyed collecting antiques and treasures. He was a Methodist.

His son, Roger Barnes of Shelby, NC and his daughter, Kay Kramer of Rosie, AR survive him.

He is also survived by three brothers, Harvey Barnes of Hastings, Oklahoma, Ernest Barnes also of Hastings, and William Barnes of Moore, Oklahoma; and four sisters, Pateresia Waters of Hastings, Doris Smith of Hastings, Marie Caro of Lawton, Oklahoma and Bennaz Hawkins of Carsicana, Texas. Other survivors include his five grandchildren, Ashley Kramer Jackson of Conway, Brittanie Barnes and Leah Barnes both of Batesville, Statler Kramer and Carrie Morgan both of Rosie; and his three great-grandchildren, Jaiden Smith of Batesville, Kori Bowers and Jennie Morgan both of Rosie.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rubye Barnes; one son, Harley Gene Barnes; one grandson, Jackie Barnes; one brother, Myron Barnes and one sister, Betty McGinnis.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gene Bates officiating.

Pallbearers will be Chester Waters, David Waters, James Waters, Tim Jones, Lester Payne and Jeremy Waters.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 21, 2005.
Burial will be at Egner Cemetery in Salado under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. (870) 793-4161.

And his wife,
Rubye E. Barnes, 68, of Batesville passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at White River Medical Center. She was born on Thursday, April 2, 1936 in Fleetwood, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Robert L. Waters and Mary Lee Sewell Waters.

She was retired from GenCorp and of the Baptist faith.

Rubye is survived by her husband, Harley Junior Barnes of the home; her mother, Mary Lee Waters of California; one son, Roger Barnes of Shelby, North Carolina; and one daughter, Kay Kramer of Rosie.

Other survivors include her five grandchildren, Ashley Kramer Jackson of Batesville, Statler Kramer of Rosie, Brittanie Barnes of Batesville, Leah Bowers of Batesville and Carrie Morgan of Rosie; three great-grandchildren, Jaiden Smith and Kori Bowers of Rosie, and Jennie Morgan of Rosie. She is also survived by her brother, James A. Waters of Hastings, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ila Carson of Montclair, California and Jo Ann Parker of Fontana, Californian and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; one son – Harley Gene Barnes; one grandson, Jackie Barnes and one brother, Lester Waters.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2004 in the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday.

Burial will be at Egner Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. (870) 793-4161.
