Lonnie Hassel Richardson, age 82, of Newark died Sunday, February 10, 2013, in a local hospital. He was born December 15, 1930, in Batesville, the son of Ezra Richardson and Nellie Glenn Millspaugh.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Eugenia Massey Richardson; his parents; his mother-in-law, Ida Massey; father-in-law, Fitzhugh Massey; three brothers: Arlis Richardson, Carl Richardson, Jim Richardson; and a sister, Opal Butler.
Survivors include three daughters: Roxanne McDoniel and husband Bernard, Patricia Asay and husband Tim, Deborah Richardson; a son, Lorin Richardson and wife Sandie; a brother, Orville Richardson of Paw Paw, Michigan; grandchildren: Laramie McDoniel, Christie and Jason Gay, Brandon and Nicole Richardson, Tiffany and Doug Cossey, Derrick Richardson, Trinity Asay and Kami McClurg, Courtney Richardson; great-grandchildren: Tyler and Emily Gay, Layton and Katelyn McDoniel, Gavan Richardson, Griffin Cossey; several nieces and nephews; and many other friends and relatives.
Services are set for 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at Believers Community Church with David Insell and Jack McCarroll officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Laramie McDoniel, Brandon Richardson, Trinity Asay, Jason Gay, Tyler Gay, Doug Cossey and Ed Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Derrick Richardson (grandson stationed in Persian Gulf), J.D. Fulbright, Dennis Wood, Steve Bryant, the staff of Amedisys Home Health, the staff of WRMC Progressive Care Unit, and his doctors: Dr. Seth Barnes, Cindy Reid, Michelle Lasiter, Dr. Tom Cummins, Dr. David Boike and Dr. Qaisar Khan.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Willis Funeral Service from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
