Hubert Haddock Simpson, 87, of Batesville died on Friday, May 25, 2007 at White River Medical Center.
He was born September 26, 1919 in Sulphur Rock and was the son of Claud F. and Justina Haddock Simpson. He was of the Methodist faith. Hubert worked for over 30 years at the International Shoe Company and was a cattle farmer. Then in 1960 he started Simpson's Grocery in Gainesboro and operated it for 25 years. Hubert was a 32nd degree Mason for 60 years. Not only was he a Mason, but he was also a member of the Scottish Rites, a member of the Shriner's, and a member of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by three daughters: Shirley Nona Mink of Hot Springs, Barbara Dean Adams and her husband, Douglas of Batesville, and Bonnie Jean McManners and her husband, Gene of Newark; eight grandchildren: Debra McMillion, Doug Adams II, Karen Wammack, Wendell Adams, Tommy Young, Ryan Adams, Michelle King and Chris McManners; seventeen great-grandchildren: Miranda Johnson, Blake Adams, Jeremy Anderson, Annie Jones, Tiffany Wammack, Emily Adams, Haley Bell, Whitney Bell, Brittany Wammack, R. J. Adams, Kobe King, Savannah Adams, Cy King, Bobbye Sue Adams, Brianna Young, Rhett King and Maggie Dean Adams; and one great-great-grandchild, Hayley Johnson. He is also survived by one brother, Gene Simpson and his wife, Pat of Batesville; four sisters: Pearl Lockamy of Pontiac, Michigan, Betty Daniels and her husband Jim of Sunnyvale, California, Marie Hix and her husband, Charley of Batesville, Bertha Rounds and her husband, Charles also of Batesville. A special friend and companion, May D. Clark of Batesville also survives him.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Moffitt Simpson (Granny Boo).
Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with Fred Beard officiating.
Pallbearers will be Debra McMillion, Doug Adams II, Karen Wammack, Wendell Adams, Tommy Young, Ryan Adams, Michelle King, and Chris McManners.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at Lee's Chapel Cemetery on Highway 25 under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
