Veo McGhee, 92, of Benton , died on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at her residence in Benton. She was born on March 3, 1914 in Conway County, AR to the late E.L. and Oma (Smith) Cody. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie McGhee, two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. McGhee was a lifelong member of Freewill Baptist Church and had been an Aide at the Benton Services Center.
Survivors include one son, James H. McGhee and wife Diana of Benton; two granddaughters, Laura Kaye Forbes of Little Rock and Melissa LeAnn Swaffar of Conway; three great granddaughters, Khrista Parnell, Kayla Forbes, and Heather Swaffar; one great grandson, Pascal James McGhee Swaffar; two brothers, E. L. Cody, Jr. of Benton and Joe Cody of Tennessee, and one sister, Athlene Parsons of Benton.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006 in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) with Bro. Wayne Douthit officiating. Interment will follow in Fowler Cemetery in Perry County. Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Collins, Jason Burks, Laven Cody, Rob Cody, Michael Douthit, Kevin Douthit, and Josh Douthit. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening June 9th at the funeral home.
The family would like to express a special thanks to her loving church family and to the Saline Memorial Hospice.
