Mrs. G. W. Speak Dies Following Long Illness

Mrs. Annie Gillihan Speak, aged 71, a resident of this county practically all her life died at her home near Creswell, Thursday, January 24. She had been in failing health for several months and her condition became extremely critical during recent weeks.

She was married to George William Speak, March 24, 1898, to which union eight children were born, six surviving. She was converted early in life and united with the Baptist Church, and lived a devout Christian until her death.

Besides her husband, deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Austin Conrad of Locust Grove, Okla., Mrs. John Simpson of Wenatchee, Wash., and Mrs. Thurman Vines of Gorby, Ark.; three sons, Johnny of Forty Four, Ark., Marvin and Frank Speak of Gorby, Ark.; 27 grand-children, seven great-grand-children; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. W. T. Watson of Calico Rock. Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery, with arrangements in charge of the McGuire Funeral Home.
