Well Known Citizen Dies at Age of 88
Nathan Long, one of the county’s oldest and most highly respected citizens, died at his home at Melbourne, Wednesday night, May 4, 1949 at the age of 89.
Practically all his life was spent in the vicinity of Flat Rock, where he was engaged at farming for many years. He sold his farm several months ago and moved to Melbourne. He was married to Martha Jane Wyatt December 25, 1890. To this union was born one child, a daughter, Lizzie Long, who survives. Mrs Long preceded her husband in death by 14 years.
Mr. Long united with the Methodist Church at Pleasant Grove as a young man and remained a devout Christian throughout his lifetime.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. W. T. Watson, pastor of the Calico Rock Methodist Church, were held at Pleasant Grove Thursday afternoon. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
