Marie Harvelle, daughter of the late Harvey and Maggie Thompson Hodges, was born December 12, 1923 in Twin Creek. She died March 12, 1998 in Little Rock. She was 74.
Mrs. Harvelle was united in marriage June 24, 1943 to Elgin Harvelle in Wenatchee, Washington. To this union two sons were born. She was employed by the Arkansas State Revenue Department for many years. She was also a housewife and mother. Mrs. Harvelle was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Midway Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Don Harvelle of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Opal Walker of Melbourne and Helen McClusky of California; and a host of friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Tommy Joe Harvelle; and one brother, Glen Hodges.
Funeral services were held March 15, 1998 at the Roman & Billy Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Joe Jackson officiating.
Pallbearers were Royce Slade, Richard Penn, Cub Rush, Tate Lawrence, Jr., Mark Watson and Roy Gene Walker.
Interment was at Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
