Joyce Jones Murphy, 83, of Hamburg, was welcomed home by her Savior in heaven on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Mrs. Murphy was born September 10, 1933 in Thornton, Arkansas. She graduated from Manila High School in 1951. She met a sailor, fell in love with him and his big family, married and moved to Norfolk, Virginia. She raised her family and kept house in many places, Norfolk Virginia, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Bastrop Louisiana, Dunoon Scotland and Santee California, finally returning to the Milo Community outside of Hamburg 44 years ago. She was a member of the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, W. E. “Hoss” Murphy in 2002; her parents, Jesse & Rachel Ellis Jones, a sister, Lanora Jones; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hugh & Freddie Murphy and a daughter-in-law, Lois Murphy.

She leaves this world with four children, Susan Murphy of Little Rock; Bob Murphy and wife, Linda, of Pine Valley, California, John Murphy and wife, Marion, of Clinton, Louisiana and Thomas “Buck” Murphy of Plano, Texas; a “bonus son” Dennis Murphy and wife, Cyindi, of Hamburg; five grandchildren, Amanda, Angela, Ian, Lewis and Robert and four great-grandchildren, Murphy, Tatum, Declan & Olivia.

Graveside services and interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 10, 2017 in the Dailey Cemetery with Bro. Buddy Boykin officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205-1569 or the International Fellowship of Christians & Jews, PO Box 96105, Washington, D.C. 20090-6105. The family would like to thank all her caregivers that made her life easier and as comfortable as possible.

Visitation will be 10:45 – 11 a.m., Monday at the cemetery.
