News of Oxford
Last Thursday morning the people here were shocked and grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Lydia Terwilliger, who had been sick but a few hours. The death was caused by a blood vessel in her head bursting.
The deceased was Mrs. Lydia Kelley until a year ago last Friday when she was married to Mr. Terwilliger. She professed religion when she was a little girl and has been a great worker in the church and Sunday school ever since. She has left an aged mother Mrs. Viney Noles, Two brothers, Tom and Hall Noles; two sisters, Lizzie Knowles and Mrs. Susie Melton; one daughter, Hazel Kelley; a husband and five step-children, to mourn her departure, besides her many friends. Lydia will be missed by all who knew her, for she always had a kind word and a cheerful smile for all she met. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of sickness or any other kind of trouble.
To those who are bereave, I would say, “Weep not as they who have no hope, for we want to live so we can all meet in heaven, where there will be no more partings.”
The remains were laid to rest in the Oxford cemetery Friday morning, Rev. Ross conduction the funeral services. (both Knowles and Noles is used)

Hall Noles was called here Friday morning to be at the funeral of his sister, Mrs. Lydia Terwilliger and is remaining a few days visiting with friends and relatives.
[Note: The gravestone has her surname engraved as Kelley even though she had been a Terwillinger for a year prior to her death.]
