Charles W. Hembrey, 84, of Hoxie, died at 6 Saturday morning in Lawrence Memorial Hospital following an illness of several weeks. A native of Indiana, he moved to Lawrence County more than 50 years ago. He had lived in Walnut Ridge and Hoxie for the past 22 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Hembrey of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Irba Deal, Manila, Mrs. Daisy Todd, Walnut Ridge, and Mrs. Euel Freer, Hoxie, Route 1; four sons, Fred Hembrey, Northville, Mich., Rupert Hembrey and Paul Hembrey, both of Hoxie, and Richard Hembrey, Louisville, Ky.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Evva McFarland of Harrison and Mrs. Raye McWilliams of Manila; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Grandsons were pallbearers.
