Jennings “Slater” R. Mahan, 88, of Damascus, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Conway Regional Health Systems. He was born August 30, 1921, at Rabbit Ridge, Arkansas, a son of the late Darby Bruce and Alma (Latimer) Mahan. Slater was also preceded in death by his sister, Glenna Holland and brothers, Hayden and Hilma Mahan. He was a barber most of his life, and was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Rabbit Ridge Church of Christ.

Survivors are his wife of sixty-nine years, Versa (Scritchfield) Mahan; children, David Mahan of Damascus; Katherine Page of Searcy; Dennie Mahan of Damascus; his sister, Sue Nabors; his brother, Alon Mahan both of Rabbit Ridge; grandchildren, Timothy Allen Mahan of Damascus; Joe Belote (Kari) of Ada Michigan; Trey Page of Los Angeles, California; Rigel (Lana) Page of Searcy; Darbi (Paul) Blencow of Conway; great-grandchildren, Nicole Fairchild, Lane and Hayden Page, Kyle and Ellary Belote.
