NIVEN, Walter - Walter Niven, 51 years old, prominent farmer in the Cave Springs community, died at a local hospital Tuesday from the effect of arsenate of lead poisoning, absorbed several days ago while spraying his apple orchard. Mr. Niven was ill about five days. Mr. Niven was born near Cave Springs and spent his entire life in that community. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Cave Springs with A.D. Callison in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Niven is survived by his widow; four sons, Kenneth, Cleo, Herbert and Ira, and three daughters, Misses Lone and Vernice Niven and Mrs. Debora Mabry, Sapulpa, Okla.

NIVENS, Walter - Walter Nivens, 50 year old farmer and fruit grower living near Cave Springs, died in a Rogers hospital Tuesday from the effects of poisoning by arsenate of lead used in the solution he had been spraying his orchard. He became ill last Thursday night and as his condition grew worse was removed to a Rogers hospital Sunday. He continued to grew worse from the effects of the poison. Mr. Nivens' death was an unusual one. Practically every orchardist in the country uses arsenate of lead in their spray material. His death was the first one we have ever heard of caused by the use of spray material. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Baptist Church in Cave Springs with burial in the local cemetery. Besides his widow he is survived by four sons and three daughters.
