Mabel Helm Mason, daughter of the late Walter Helm and Susie Lawson Helm was born September 29, 1919 in Oxford. She died November 14, 1997 at her home in Jonesboro. She was 78.

Mrs. Mason was united in marriage to Fred Mason December 17, 1945. To this union two daughters were born. She spent her working years as an educator, teaching in schools throughout northern Arkansas for 33 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Susie Pack of Springdale; and Carol Curtis and husband, Gary of Jonesboro; one brother, Arlun Helm of Oxford; one sister, Marie Walling of Salem; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Herschel and Hayden; one sister, Ruby Speak; and one son-in-law, Alan Pack.

Services were held November 17, 1997 at Cox-Estes Chapel in Salem with Brother David Gibson officiating.

Interment was at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Estes Funeral Home in Salem.
