Mrs. Hazel Norrell, 82, of Hamburg died Friday, August 27, 1999, at the Leisure Lodge nursing home in Monticello. A native of Cornerville and a Monticello resident for the past two years, she had lived in Hamburg for many years. She was a homemaker and member of the Parkdale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne "Snip" Norrell, in 1986; her parents, George and Maud Cherry Jordan; a brother, Lloyd Jordan; two grandsons, Jerry Tanksley and George Ricks; a great-granddaughter, Amber Ricks; and a son-in-law, Willie Tanksley. Survivors include two sons, George Ricks of Monticello and Hubert Ricks of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Mary Tanksley of Crossett and Hettie Clark of Hamburg; a stepson, Frank Norrell of Van Buren; a brother, James Jordan of Shelbyville, IN; a sister, Marteal Tanksley of Parkdale; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 29, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg with Rev. E. W. Ricks officiating. Pallbearers were Tommy and Bobby Clark, Carroll Parker, Chris Elmore, Wayne Johnson, Nathan, Franklin and Buddy Tanksley. Burial followed services at the Carlock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Carlock Cemetery c/o Mike Bays, 331 Ashley Road 462, Hamburg, AR 71646.
