Rufus J. Sanders Dies After Brief Illness
Rufus Jackson Sanders, aged 57, of Dolph, a life-long resident of this section, died Monday, August 26, at a hospital in Batesville, following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Dolph Church at Tremble Campground, with Rev. Carl Davis of Cross Roads officiating. Burial was at Tremble Campground, under direction of the Roller Funeral Home of Calico Rock.
Mr. Sanders was united in marriage to Annie Skidmore in 1918, to which union nine children were born.
He is survived by his wife, Annie; six daughters, Mrs. Floyd Dockins and Mrs. Wayne Harris of Calico Rock; Mrs. Joe Duck of Oklahoma; Mrs. Bonnie Forister of McCrory, Ark., Mrs. Ray Carter of the state of Washington, and Lula Dall of the home; three sons, Philip of Dolph; George of Jordan and Y. V. of the Home; four brothers, Alfred Sanders of Calico Rock, Jake of Byron, Ark., Ambrose of Oil Trough, Ark., and Bert of the state of Washington, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
