HALE, Lucinda BACON - Died, at her home seven miles southwest of Bentonville April 18th, 1896, Mrs. Lucinda Hale, wife of Amon Hale. Mrs. Hale was born Feb. 25, 1836 in Washington Co., Tenn., making her age 60 years, 1 month and 23 days. She was one of a family of 11 children. Her father and two sisters, Mrs. Cox of Tenn. and Mrs. M. Mallory of this city, remain to mourn her departure. Her father, Mr. Edmund Bacon, who lives with his daughter, Mrs. Mallory, is at the advanced age of 78 years. Mrs. Hale was the mother of six children, five of whom are yet living, two girls and three boys. Sister Hale was converted and became a christian while but a girl. She has been a faithful member of the Baptist church. At her death she was a member of the Temperance Hill Baptist church. By her death the community has lost a valuable citizen, the church an exemplary member and the family a loving and devoted mother. Sister Hale was not called to pass through a hard trial of sickness but died suddenly of heart disease or something kindred. Because of the absence of her youngest son, Jesse, she was not buried till Monday, April 20th. At the appointed time for the funeral and burial a large concourse of people assembled to pay their last respect of kindness to the departed at which time the writer conducted the exercises. M.M. Smith.
