Jane Kelley, 84, of Harrison, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. A native of Ellisville, a resident of Harrison for many years and a former resident of Fordyce, she earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and a master's degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She taught in the public schools in Arkansas for 32 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrison, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Boone County Retired Teachers Association and the Garden Club. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Jefferson of Harrison; a sister, Betty Jean Bryant of Camden; and four grandsons, Jason Pickering of Atlanta, GA, Eli Pickering of Austin, TX, B.J. Jefferson of Little Rock and Jesse Jefferson of Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Kelley, in 1993; a daughter, Beth Pickering, in 1995; and a son-in-law, Joe Jefferson, who died earlier this year. Grave-side services were at 3 p.m., Monday, April 10, at the Promise Land Cemetery with Rev. Michael Reese officiating. Memorials may be made to the Boone County Retired Teachers Association, 210 Southgate Drive, Harrison, AR 72601 or to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 996, Harrison, AR 72601.
