BLAYLOCK, Sarah Harriet FORD Cooper {from Walnut Hill} Sarah Harriett Blaylock was born Aug. 4, 1834 near Woodbury, Conan Co., Tenn.; married to Geo. Cooper of same place. To this union was born three girls, all living and were present at the funeral: Mrs. Minervia of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Callie Houston of Bells, Texas, Mrs. Sophronia Taylor of Garfield. Their father died while all were quite young. Aunt Harriett {as she was known} was married to Elhanan W. Blaylock. He passed away leaving her a widow of 45 years. Aunt Harriett professed religion in early youth, joined the Methodist church of which her father, Uncle George Ford, was an active pioneer Circuit Rider. She came to Arkansas with her first family and father in the year 1856 and settled at old Lee Town on Pea Ridge. Later they moved near where she has lived and died. About 35 years ago Aunt Harriett joined the Missionary church at Walnut Hill. She was a woman of high ideals, much loved by all who knew her; a mother in the true meaning of the word to all who needed. The night never became too dark or too cold or hot or wet but if called she went and administered to the sick and needy. While young she gathered many native herbs which she used when and where needed. Had she the education of some of our mothers today, what wonderful works she could have performed in medical ways. As her father was a doctor she obtained much knowledge there and was called far and near. She had a happy, loving disposition which won for her many friends. Her remains were laid to rest in the home graveyard Monday, April 2nd and Elder Clark Bland made a very beautiful talk. Many friends gathered to pay their last respects to her. She leaves her daughters, one boy she reared from childhood, Jesse Ford, two brothers, Uncle Billy and John Ford, and one sister, Aunt Martha Williams, to mourn the loss. All present except Uncle John Ford, who is visiting in Texas.
