Mrs. S. P. McClurkin, 69, one of Stephens' best known residents, died at the Camden hospital Friday afternoon. She was born in Talledega, Ala., and moved to Stephens and Ouachita county when a small girl. She had resided there all her life. She married Mr. McClurkin, a prominent Stephens business man, 52 years ago, and two years ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Funeral services will be held at the Stephens Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. W. R. Boyd in charge. Burial will be in Mt. Prospect cemetery. Surviving are her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Walter Keith of Shreveport, La., Mrs. J. D. Billberry, Mrs. N. J. Nyguard, both of Haynesville; Miss Fern McClurkin of Stephens; three sons, Ernest, Roy and Dale McClurkin, all of Stephens; two sisters, Mrs. E. C. Partee and Mrs. Ida Walker, both of Stephens, and five grandchildren. Mrs. McClurkin was beloved by all who knew her and her death is mourned by many friends throughout this section.
