Mary Neva Keeter Cavaness, 80, died on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at her home in Batesville surrounded by her family.
She was born October 2, 1926 in Yellville, Arkansas; the daughter of Andrew Jefferson and Mittie (Stokes) Keeter. She was always a homemaker and centered her life around her family. She enjoyed sewing and oil painting. She loved to travel in Her and her husband's motor home and they were members of a motor home travel club and still stayed in touch with the members of the club. A family tradition for over 30 years was "bean day" at Mary's house every Monday for anyone and everyone who wanted to come. It had become a family tradition. Mary was a member of the Harrison Street Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, George Chester Cavaness of the home; a son, George Clayton Cavaness and his wife, Sheri of Batesville; daughters, Beverly Sue Hill and her husband, Keith of Batesville; Marilyn Kay Huck and her husband, Gene of Sulphur, Louisiana; and Georgia Candace Case and her husband, Jim of Batesville. She is also survived by two grandsons, William Wade Samec, Matthew Patrick Samec and his wife Chalanda; and three granddaughters, Crystal Michelle Collins, Khara Danielle Cavaness and Ginger Beth Hill; and four great-grandchildren, Ava Lillian Samec, Jordan Ella Samec, Braxton Wade Samec and Terry Lee Rose, III. Her sister, Flossie Cheek of Ash Flat also survives her.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Keeter, Arlie Keeter and Leyman Keeter.
Pallbearers are Wade Samec, Matthew Samec, Keith Hill, Jim Case, Carl Biggers, and Benson Hardaway. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jim Lytle, Dr. Mohit Narang and Dr. Robin Williams.
Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with Tom German officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Burial is at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville
