RAYMORE, Mo. — Norva Eleanor Martin Pelton, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. She was born on March 20, 1922, at home on a farm near Dighton, Lane County, Kan., to Clarence Dyke and Eleanor May Wolfe Martin.

Mrs. Pelton is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Nagel of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., Susan Miller of Raymore, Mo., and Joy Munsen of Lee's Summit, Mo,; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Jay Pelton; her parents; four sisters; and three brothers.

Mrs. Pelton grew up in Lane County, Kan. She graduated from Dighton High School in the class of 1940. Norva and Delmar (Del) were married on June 29, 1940, at the Methodist Church in Dodge City, Kan. The Peltons farmed in western Kansas and owned and operated a movie theater in Turon, Kan. After Del became associated with American Family Insurance Co., the family relocated to Beloit, Kan., and then to Shawnee Mission, Kan. After her daughters were all in school, Norva worked in retail clothing sites, as a clerk at Pyramid Life Insurance Co., and then as a production planner at H.D. Lee.

Del and Norva retired in 1981 and moved to their dream home on Beaver Lake near Rogers, Ark. They later relocated to Greers Ferry, Ark., and then Conway, Ark., to be closer to family. At the time of her death, Norva resided at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, Mo.

Novaa Pelton is remembered by her family and friends as a creative, fun-loving person who took pride in her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making unique ceramics, working in her flower garden and decorating her home.

Delmar and Norva loved to travel; two of their favorite trips were to Niagara Falls for their 25th wedding anniversary and Hawaii for their 50th wedding anniversary. They took pleasure in dancing together and spending time with family and many close friends. Norva will be greatly missed by all who love her.

Visitation will be held at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit, Mo., on Thursday, April 21, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment and graveside services will be held at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield, Ark. (near Rogers, Ark.), on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 10 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Harold Nagel, Paul Munsen, Shelley Moix, Lori Lachowsky, Mark Munsen and Matt Munsen.
