Leona Faye Pearson, age 87, of Russellville, went to meet her Lord and beloved husband, Jack, on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A daughter of the late Phillip Henry and Mollie Ann Thomas Goodnight, she was born February 6, 1920 in Perry, Arkansas. She was a person of many talents – an excellent seamstress, hair stylist and musician – all self taught. She lived in Perry and Morrilton until 1995 when she moved to Russellville with her husband to be near their son. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morrilton. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Mae and Louise Goodnight; and a brother, Virgil Goodnight.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Margaret Pearson of Russellville; two grandchildren and their spouses: the Drs. Anne and Jeff Snider of London; and John and Angie Pearson of Maumelle, Arkansas; and four great-grandchildren: Jack and Adam Snider of London; and Katie and Emily Pearson of Maumelle.
The funeral service will be at 1 P.M. on Friday, January 11, 2007 at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by Bro. Bill Brown. Burial will be in McGhee Cemetery at Adona, by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Rus Pearson, Ray Pearson, Bill Vaughn, John Pearson, Jeff Snider and Bob Freeman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 12 noon until 1 P.M., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 East Church Street, Morrilton, Arkansas 72110; or First Baptist Church, 200 South Denver Avenue, Russellville, Arkansas 72801.
The family would like to thank the Atkins Nursing Center and, more recently, the Russellville Nursing Center for the loving care they gave Leona Faye these past four years. A special thanks also to Dr. Stan Bradley.
