Eula Mary (Sherlin) Hussey, 93, of Perryville died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Conway Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 17, 1915, in Willow Springs, Mo., a daughter of Grover Cleveland Sherlin Sr. and Sallie Elizabeth (Safley) Sherlin.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She attended schools in Little Rock, graduating from Little Rock Senior High in 1932. After two years at Little Rock Junior College, she went to work, but continued her involvement with the Girl Scouts.
She married Joel James Hussey in July 1939 in Little Rock. After moving around with his work they settled in Thornburg in 1947. He died Sept. 3, 1963.
She taught school at Houston and the Arkansas Tuberculosis Sanatorium at Booneville. She retired from the Conway Human Development Center, became a foster parent to three former clients from CHDC, went into the Senior Companion Program serving first as a companion then as program coordinator and retiring at 90.
Besides her husband, preceding her in death were son James "Jim" Frederick Hussey, a grandson, Mark Edward Wilmoth; a sister, Florence Augusta Lynn; and two brothers, G.C. Sherlin Jr. and Jefferson Alexander "J.A." Sherlin.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth "Betty" Ann and George Holbrook and Charles Jeffray Hussey, all of Perryville; grandchildren, Robert Wilmoth and Terry Wilmoth of Houston, Andy and Patty Wilmoth of Perryville, Carla and Jason Harris and Melanie and Brian Hill, both of Benton, Cherylyn and Davis Beasley, Dan and Lorri Alexander, David and Linda Alexander, Debbie and Gordon Morimoto, and Dixie Lynch, all of California; and Deanna and Jason Wilkinson and Glen Alan and Mariea Holbrook of Alaska; 23 great-grandchildren; 12 nieces; nine nephews; and a foster son, Terry Hamilton.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Perryville United Methodist Church with Dr. David Baker officiating. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to service in The Connection Center (new fellowship hall) at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
