Otis Christie, 88, of Wesson died Thursday night at his home following a long illness. Born in Columbia County March 3, 1881, he was the son of John Monroe and Marian Eula McCalman Christie. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a retired employe of the El Dorado-Wesson Railroad. He was a member of the Wesson Masonic Lodge 580 and was a Shriner. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lee Grant Christie of Wesson; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Ainsworth of El Dorado, Miss Christine Christie of Wesson and Mrs. Mary Sue Dawson of Camden; two sisters, Mrs. Eula Wheatley of Magnolia and Mrs. Clara Pierce of Dyess, Ark.; a brother, Johnny Christie of Emerson; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Woodrow Christie of El Dorado. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rumph Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Francis Christie and Rev. Robert F. Gryder officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted at Pleasant Grove Cemetery by the Wesson Masonic Lodge. Pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons: Thomas Christie, Dallas Baillio, W. G. Ainsworth, Jr., Charles B. Ainsworth, Harold Dean Ainsworth and Robert T. Dawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe B. Wharton, employes of the El Dorado-Wesson Railroad and members of the Wesson Masonic Lodge. (El Dorado Times - January 8, 1971)
